What kind of businesses do you work with?

Think trades, professional services, and general SMEs where the founder's doing too much themselves. The industries vary, but the underlying problems rarely do: data that can't be trusted, weak financial controls, and no one senior enough watching the whole picture. That range is deliberate. Nearly two decades split across operations, finance, data, and technology roles, at major global institutions including Deloitte, Citi, and Morgan Stanley, and hands-on with smaller businesses on the ground, means whatever bracket you're in, we've likely seen a version of your problem before. We work closely with a selected group of clients rather than at volume, so fit and stage matter more to us than turnover or industry.

Do you only work with small businesses, or can larger organisations bring you in too?

Both, just structured differently. For owner-managed SMEs, the work is ongoing oversight: watching the numbers, the systems, and the data month to month. For larger, more complex organisations, it's usually scoped project or specialist advisory work instead, a data strategy review, a systems consolidation, oversight of a specific finance function, rather than an open-ended retainer. That flexibility comes from the range of the career behind it: nearly two decades across operations, finance, data, and technology, including time at large global institutions, not just smaller firms. Is this bookkeeping, or something else?

Accepted Answer

Something else, and that's deliberate. We don't do your day-to-day bookkeeping or file your VAT and tax returns. That stays with your bookkeeper or compliance accountant, yours already or one we help you find, usually a trusted partner firm. What we do is oversee it: check the numbers are right, the systems make sense, and nothing's slipping through the cracks, alongside the data and reporting side. That also means there's no conflict between the person coding the numbers and the person signing off on them. Most clients like having one person watching the whole picture instead of specialists who don't talk to each other.

I already have an accountant. Can you work alongside them?

Yes. Our oversight work doesn't require you to move anything across. Your accountant keeps doing what they do, and we work around them. Most clients find it easier having one person watching the whole picture, but if you'd rather keep things separate, that's fine too.

How does pricing work?

It's transparent and hours-based rather than a fixed package: one flat rate, no surprise add-ons, scoped to what your business actually needs. Every engagement starts with a paid onboarding review, giving both of us an honest baseline before anything ongoing is agreed. Compliance filing, where it's needed, is usually handled by a trusted partner rather than by us. Are you Glasgow-only, or can you work with businesses elsewhere?

Accepted Answer

We're based in Glasgow and meet in person where it genuinely helps, but most of the work happens remotely with clients across the UK, and globally for the right fit. Location matters less than whether the partnership works.

Do I need to wait until year-end to bring you in?

Accepted Answer

No. Since we're not replacing your accountant or bookkeeper, there's no natural cut-off to wait for. You can bring in oversight at any point in the year, whether that's now or once a specific problem needs sorting. Your existing accountant or bookkeeper keeps doing what they do, and if we need to liaise with them, that's a routine professional courtesy, not something you have to chase yourself.

Yes, we can help get you properly set up: structure, systems, and the basics in the right order from day one, including getting you connected with a good bookkeeper, so there's nothing to untangle later. Get in touch and we'll talk through where you're at.

I'm not sure exactly what I need. Is that a problem?

No, that's the normal starting point. We tend to just listen to what problems you think you have and go from there. A free discovery call is enough for us to tell you honestly what's worth doing now, what can wait, and if we're not the right fit, we'll say so.
